Just a See You Later

The last week abroad was stressful, surreal, and incredibly sad. It was hard to believe that the semester was actually coming to an end and that we had to say goodbye to people who, only a few months before, had been complete strangers. Over time, they became such a sweet and familiar part of our everyday lives. It was not just saying goodbye to friends, but also to the small routines that made Florence feel like home: the shop owner down the corner who we always said good morning and good night to, the café owner who sold me my daily Nutella croissant, and the familiar faces we passed throughout the city. These were people and moments we may never experience in the same way again, but the memories of those everyday joys will never be forgotten.
Studying abroad was truly one of the best decisions I could have ever made. It changed the way I view the world and opened my eyes to how many possibilities exist beyond what I had always known. Being in Florence made the experience even more special because it felt like the perfect place to call home for a semester. The nature, culture, history, food, and architecture all came together in such a beautiful way. Florence gave me more than just a study abroad experience; it gave me confidence, independence, friendships, and memories that I will carry with me forever. Leaving was difficult, but I am so grateful that I had the chance to live, learn, and grow in a place that became so meaningful to me.
